' erosion, except in the riprep area where little or no vegetation
exists.

2.2.6.2 Fishery Facilities - The intake structure and trashracks are
designed such that velocities will range from 2 to 3 feet per second
[0.6 to 0.9 m/s). Velocities a few feet from the trashracks will be
negligible in order that fish would not be drawn through the intake.
The stilling basin dissipator at the end of the outlet works would
increase the dissolved oxygen below the dam which may benefit
downstream fisheries.
2.2.6.3 Additional Mitigating Measures - Additional discussion on
mitigation measures as it relates to environmental impacts is
contained in Chapter 5. `__-_
2.2.7 C o~ o a r a t i v,~, ,~,o ,gt
2.2.7.1 The estimated annual co st per acre-foot Less engineering and
construction management for Alternative A would be X102. Appendix A
shows the construction cost estimate breakdown for -all alternatives.
Operational cast including maintenance and replacement are estimated
to be X20,000 per year and would be the same for a L L rase rvoi r
alternatives.
2.3 ALTERNATIVE B: Larger Da® at Taylor Drams; Crest El. 5345
[1629m)
2.3.1 Lg.catiQ,n_end_Genera~_Dgsc,ript,iQn
2.3.1.1 A larger dam at Taylor Draw would be located along the same
axis as Alternative A.
2.3..23 The capacity. of the reservoi r would be 27,400 acre-feet [33.8
X 10 m ) at the normal high water line elevation of 5,335 feet MSL
(1626m). The surface area of the reservoir at the high water line
[spi L Tway crest) would be approximately 925 ac~es3(374ha ). A dead
pool storage volume of 2, 1 00 acre-feet [ 2.6 X 10 m ) would inundate
approximately 257 acres (104ha) at an elevation of 5,290 feet MSL
[1612m). Recreation and flood control benefits would be the same as
Alternative A.
2.3.1.3 A larger dam at Tyylor Draw would require approximately 5,800
feet [1,763mj of road relocation assuming the road could be Located in
the same area as Alterna ti ve A. This would include approxi mately
2,1.00 feet [63Bm) above the Staley Gorden Mine Bridge. The dam would
also require the relocation of a portion of 10-inch [25cm) gas
pipeline, pawerline, and telephone tine above the high water line.
Additions! information on a Larger dam is found on Figure 2 - 1.
2.3.2 Construction Methods Features and g~tioa~~ip
2.3.2.1 Dem Design - The dam would be a zoned ~parthfiil dam
containing approximately 423,000 cubic yards (323,405 m ) of material.
-17-
