47 <br />Anderson Hole <br />The floodzone at Anderson Hole (Fig. 12, Tables 2 and 3), had low total <br />plant coverage (Fig. 13). Plant coverage increased significantly above the <br />f loodline, primarily due to shrubs such as squawbush and big sagebrush. Grass <br />and forb coverage was also greater above the floodline. The peak in forb <br />density seen in Zone III was due to a band of Iva axillaris. <br />Of particular interest at this site were rows of cottonwood seedlings, <br />generally running parallel to the river in the moist sand of the floodzone. <br />Mature cottonwoods were present at the site and may have been the seed source. <br />
