Physical Description: Harvey Gap Reservoir is located in the basin of a <br />small order stream. Water to fill the reservoir comes through a diversion <br />from East Rifle Creek. All water releases are made into a canal system for <br />irrigation. The reservoir is managed to not spill, however if an infrequent <br />spill occurs that water also goes into the irrigation system. There is no <br />• direct connection from Harvey Gap Reservoir to the Colorado River. <br />C. Existing fish community -Rainbow trout, largemouth bass, black crappie, <br />channel catfish, northern pike, and white sucker were sampled in 1993. <br />White sucker and black crappie were the most abundant species. Brown <br />trout, smallmouth bass, and bluegill were also present in 1987 and may <br />• still inhabit the lake in small numbers. Catchable size rainbow trout are <br />stocked annually. Channel catfish were most recently stocked in 1992 <br />and 1993. <br />• <br />II. Management Strategy <br />A. Manage as a mixed species recreational fishery. <br />B. Special length regulation for bass (fish > 15"). <br />• C. Evaluate for tiger muskie stocking and if approved -Creation of trophy <br />fishery with minimum size restrictions. <br />III.
