3. Trout Creek
Recommended management strategies/options:
1) Manage existing lakes and streams within Intensive,
Optimum, and Special Management categories as
designated.
2) Manage and restore upper Trout Creek and Sawtooth
Lake #7 for pure Colorado River cutthroat trout
populations.
3) Manage Sheriff Reservoir as a stocked trout fishery.
4) Change high lakes currently managed with stocked trout
which are most likely to result without stocking in
native aquatic wildlife communities without fish to
Special Management category 320. Only lakes with
unsatisfactory or marginal fisheries or those prone to
frequent winterkill will be targeted.
5) Assess any of the lakes or streams included in
Categories 200 and 221 for potential as Colorado River
cutthroat trout habitats.
6) Inventory alpine amphibian habitats above 7,000 ft
elevation for boreal toad breeding and nursery sites.
7) Initiate baseline herptile, mollusk and crustacean
inventories as agency resources permit.
