1

Almost every species, reservoir and environment seems to
have a different repository and a different system and
unique program. Council members and the group discussed how
to attack the issue. There is one model program now at
Arizona State University, but this may or may not be good to
use as a final, and there are some others. The Upper Basin
recovery efforts have some database programs as well as
submission and content requirements. The organization of
Colorado River Aquatic Biologists (CRAB) meets with
biologists of both basins to share information, and perhaps
also should be contacted because they need to develop ways
to accommodate their data needs.
It was the consensus of the Council to have Joe
Janish, Jon Sjoberg and the Secretary formulate a letter to
the CRABS President indicating CRFWC would like to have a
discussion at one of their meetings in the near future about
' them working to establish recommendations for a drainage-
wide database, protocols and procedures.

1

t

1
Mr. Rick Hammel, a Member of Trout Unlimited in
Colorado, gave the Council a brief synopsis of the
objectives of Trout Unlimited with reference especially to
the Colorado River Basin, and requested consideration by the
CRFWC to become a member of the Council. During Council
consideration of the subject, it was pointed out by staff
members from the Upper Basin that Mr. Hammel was relating to
that basin's steering committees for Cutthroat Trout
Conservation Programs. Mr. Hammel is really requesting to
become a member of the Cutthroat Steering Committee which is
basically a three state group which has no connection with
the CRFWC. Mr. Hammel was welcomed to participate in the
coordinating groups of the three Upper Basin states working
on conservation of the cutthroats as well as attending any
other meetings held between the states and the FWS, and to
provide Trout Unlimited's input in these discussions.
Mr. Randy Radant presented a report on the progress of
activities related to the Council's establishing a basin
conservation plan for the Flannelmouth Sucker, the Bluehead
Sucker, and the Roundtail Chub. Since the winter meeting,
progress has been made by staff in gathering information on
these species, and a contract for status review of the
species has also been awarded to Colorado State University
11
