0 <br />Since there was considerable discussion of the triploid verification activi- <br />ties by U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Stuttgart, Arkansas, and the offer of <br />the California Game & Fish Department to look into the possibility of their <br />verification of triploidy for council member states, the technical committee <br />was asked to consider recommendations or procedures which might be advised to <br />council states in the handling of certification of grass carp as triploid and <br />future administrative and staff problems if this is the case. <br />K. Coordinated Resource Management Planning Resolution <br />Chairman Geer asked Kent Smith to address the council on the assignments <br />given him earlier in the day on distribution of the resolution and contact <br />people for reference by the council. Mr. Smith indicated that he would <br />provide a specific list of names for distribution to Rod Stone and to include <br />a note of other key contacts. The contact person for information on the <br />. planning committee itself would be Mr. Smith. Based upon this information <br />and the motion from Mr. Smith to accept the resolution, the motion was <br />seconded and carried unanimously. The resolution is attached as Appendx K. <br />L. Proposal for Introduction of Arctic Char <br />In consideration of the report of the technical committee, the proposal for <br />introduction of the artic char into the Colorado Basin within Colorado was <br />discussed. In view of the concerns relative to the proposal in the technical <br />committee, the council requested that the state of Colorado address the <br />concerns and comments and provide an amended proposal to the new technical <br />committee chairman by September, 1988 if possible. The technical committee <br />chairman would then disseminate it to technical committee members and.shortly <br />thereafter, poll them as to their concerns, approval or disapprovals. He <br />would then formulate a recommendation and transmit it to the new council <br />chairman who would poll council members. <br /> <br />M. New Council and Technical Committee Chair <br />Mr. Temple Reynolds, Arizona Game & Fish Department, was introduced as the <br />new chairman for the next two council years 1988-1989 and 1989-1990. Serving <br />with him as chair of the technical committee will be Mr. Joe Janish. <br />As provided in the council bylaws, Mr. William Morris, Wyoming Department of <br />Game & Fish, will serve as the council vice chairman for the same term and <br />Mr. Robert Wiley, Wyoming Game & Fish Department, will serve as the vice <br />chairman of the technical committee. <br />N. Coming Meetings <br />0 Mr. Temple Reynolds announced that the next annual meeting of the Colorado <br />River Fish & Wildlife Council would be held in conjunction with the Western <br />Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies, July 2nd through 7th in Seattle, <br />Washington, 1989. The exact date of the council meeting in conjunction with <br />the association will be announced following negotiations with the associa- <br />go tion's secretary and programming committee. <br />19
