EXHIBIT F <br />RESOULUTION NO. I <br />of the <br />COLORADO RIVER WILDLIFE COUNCIL <br />Las Vegas, Nevada <br />April 4-5, 1983 <br />CONCERNING <br />CLOSURE AND TRANSFER OF THE JONES HOLE NATIONAL FISH HATCHERY <br />WHEREAS, The Jones Hole National Fish Hatchery was established to <br />produce rainbow trout for release in the upper basin waters authorized <br />in the Colorado River Storage Project Act for mitigation and improvement <br />of the fisheries; and <br />WHEREAS, after Congress failed to provide funding, the Secretary <br />of Interior, James Watt has ordered the closure of Jones Hole National <br />Fish Hatchery, effective July 1, 1983, and has also proposed its trans- <br />fer to a non-federal agency; and <br />WHEREAS, New Mexico and Colorado have filed suit against the <br />Secretary of Interior, James Watt, opposing this closure and proposed <br />transfer; and <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado.River Wildlife Council has reviewed the <br />suits and endorses their purpose and contents; and <br />WHEREAS, The Colorado River Wildlife Council is composed of the <br />wildlife agencies from Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New <br />Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming, and <br />WHEREAS, The closure of Jones Hole National Fish Hatchery threatens <br />the integrity of well established rainbow trout fisheries in Colorado <br />River Storage Project waters in the upper basin states along with <br />Colorado River Storage Projects yet to be completed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that.the Colorado River Wildlife <br />Council opposes the closing and proposed transfer of Jones Hole National <br />Fish Hatchery, and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Colorado River Wildlife Council <br />that the Secretary of the Interior should immediately acquire funds <br />from sources available in the Department of Interior to keep Jones <br />Hole National Fish Hatchery operational for the remainder of this <br />fiscal year at a production level consistent with past years; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Congress and the Secretary of the <br />Interior James Watt seek permanent funding sources for Jones Hole <br />National Fish Hatchery and Hotchkiss National Fish Hatchery to keep <br />them operational for their designed purpose.
