Fish and Wildlife
A. Planning
Planning and coordination with the Fish and Wildlife Service and State
agencies continue to improve year by year where ongoing project investiga-
tions and construction necessitate continued cooperation. Funding for
studies and coordination efforts have averaged over $1 million annually
for the last several years.
Cutbacks, however, seem to be a natural part of Government. However,
because of legislative requirements'and concern for environmental protec-
tion, we anticipate fish and wildlife measures to improve.
B. Endangered Species
1. General
Compliance with Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act as
amended is nearing completion on several proposed projects, projects in
construction or operating projects during 1983. Currently, we are
reviewing an advance draft conservation plan the Fish and Wildlife
Service has prepared that will be the basis for assessing project impacts
on the Colorado River Endangered Fishes.
9
