B. Planning <br />1. General Investigations <br />Of the $5,886,000 budgeted for general investigations, major ' <br />emphasis is on increased hydroelectric generation and on salinity control <br />in the Colorado River Basin. <br />2. Preconstruction Planning <br />Uintah Unit of the Central Utah Project has a program request of <br />$500,000 to continue the study. Reclamation signed an agreement with the <br />tribe to expedite the study. <br />3. Planning of Salinity Projects <br />a. Lower Gunnison Basin Unit <br />The Lower Gunnison Basin Unit Feasibility Reeport/DES <br />was filed on January 4, 1983. Public hearings on the DES were held on <br />February 16, 1983. The winter water segment is scheduled to begin precon- <br />struction planning stage in fiscal year 1984. <br />b. Meeker Dome Unit <br />Meeker Dome Unit well cleaning and plugging appears <br />successful. Reclamation is monitoring for an additional 2 years. <br />C. Other Units <br />A joint Reclamation/State Report on the Big Sandy River <br />Unit was sent to the State of Wyoming on December 21, 1982. This study, <br />along with Glenwood-Dotsero Springs and Price-San Rafael River units,-is <br />being investigated by professional services contracts. Investigations on <br />McElmo Creek, Uinta Basin, and Dirty Devil River Units are being done in- <br />house, except for basic data collection on Dirty Devil, which is being done <br />by contract. <br />2
