VI. Mitigation:
VLA. When fisheries management programs and recreational fishing opportunities are altered or
curtailed to meet objectives for the conservation of a Federal T/E/P species, other compatible
fishing opportunities should be developed to replace lost recreational fishing opportunities.
Action Items:
1) The States, Tribes, Federal agencies, private organizations, and the recreational
fisheries and boating community will seek to establish and implement a national
recreational fisheries mitigation policy.
