We detected a slight difference in mature male and female growth rates (Figure 11). Growth
appeared similar for both sexes until they reached 450 mm. At that point, male growth continued
to drop below 1 mm/month while rates for females stabilized at that level. As with bonytail, the
extent of the growth difference between sexes becomes more obvious with mature fish. The
largest fish are typically females. The size advantage enjoyed by females appears to be from
growth that occurs later in life.
