<br />. <br /> <br />Also on this date, testing of the remaining radio tags was continued in an <br />. attempt to quantify their ranges under various field conditions. To do this, the <br />transmitters were mounted on wooden poles and placed in the river at various <br />depths. The range was determined by motoring away from the transmitter until the <br />. signal was lost. Testing in this manner was continued on July 5. <br />On July 7, a helicopter was used in a final effort to search for the lost <br />fish. With it, the river was flown from Split Mountain above Jensen to river <br />. mile 141 and from .Sand Wash to Green River, Utah. The intervening area was cov- <br />ered numerous times by boat. The White River, a major tributary of the Green, <br />was searched from its mouth to just below Piceanse Creek in Colorado. The lower <br />If reaches of the Duchesne River, another Green River tributary, were also searched. <br />No fish were located during the flight. <br />July 10 through 13 were spent using raft-mounted equipment to search the <br />. upper river from Deerlodge Park on the Yampa River to Split Mountain on the Green, <br />where the helicopter flight was begun. Again, no fish were found. <br />July 7 through 8 were dates on which testing of transmitters was continued. <br />It A final search was made for 40.670 on July 11. His earlier pattern of <br />movement indicated that at this time he was somewhere in Desolation Canyon.
