<br />327 <br /> <br />geomorphic events for streams in which the more frequent floods are insuffi- <br />cient to transport the available bed material. Although bed material in the <br />Little Snake River near Dixon is very coarse, the less f~quent floods do not <br />appear to be geomorphically important. As noted above, the largest recorded <br />flood in the Little Snake near Dixon occurred in 1920 and had a recurrence <br />interval of approximately 75 years. It is unknown what immediate effects <br />this flood had upon the stream channel. In any case, neither this flood nor <br />previously unrecorded floods appear to have affected the bankfull stream <br />channel as it was in 1977. <br />The effective and bankfull discharges of the 15 Yampa River basin gaging <br />stations are listed in Table I, columns 7 and 9, and compared in Fig. 11.
