The r~AGE data base management system, developed by the
Western Energy and Land Use Team (WELUT) in Fort Collins, Colorado
was used for data storage, retrieval and analysis (Valdez and
Wilcott 1980). Data analysis capability was integrated into the
MANAGE system by integrating certain features of the IMSL (Inter-
national Mathematical and Statistical Library) Package (Shumate
et al. 1981). This permitted the use of ANOVA and regression
analysis.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

When all sampling was totaled for 1980 and 1981, 42,560
fishes were collected, including 25,505 collected during standard-
ized sampling (Figure 2) and 6600 during larval sampling in 1981.
In addition, 10,000 fishes were collected during 1980 and 81 general
surveys.

Red Shiner (Notropis lutrensis) was the most common fish
species collected (35%), followed by speckled dace (Rhinichthys
osculus) (27%) and flannelmouth sucker (Catostomus latipinnis)
(18%). A total of 30 Colorado squawfish (119-618 mm TL) were
collected during the standardized sampling program comprising less
than 1% of the catch. Effort for gear types between strata was
not equal (Table 1) and care is required for proper interpretation
of the relationship between the total numbers of fishes collected
between strata (Figure 2).

Table 1.
