Dear Mr. Maddux:

The Colorado Department of Transportation Region 3 office has reviewed the Draft
Environmental Assessment for the proposed Acquisition and Enhancement of Floodplain
Habitats Along the Upper Colorado, Green and Gunnison Rivers and offer the following
comments.

Please ensure that before levees are breached, that induced flooding is analyzed to ensure
that it will not cause damage to the Interstate or highway systems in the area of the
activities. Any activities involving eDOT facilities and mitigation must be coordinated
with the Region 3 office in Grand Junction at 970/248-7212 or 970/248-7223.

As we have previously noted, access to Interstate 70 right of way and ponds is limited by
law to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

We appreciate the opportunity to review this "draft" document.
