The Colorado River Water Conservation District put the
project on hold in the spring of 1982 after Colorado-Ute
Electrical Association dropped out of the project. Col-
orado-Ute dropped out of the project because of a decline
in the demand for electrical power, peaking power in par-
ticular. The river district is now seeking other private
sector sponsors for the project. To date only Public Service
Company of Colorado has expressed an interest in the project.

Comments: TI1e Cross ~buntain Dam/Reservoir is a part of a larger water
resource project which includes Jlllliper Dam and Reservoir. The
project, if developed as planned, will be the largest water
resource project in Colorado with a ma~imum annual water storage
of 1,290,000 acre feet. The project is planned as a rnultiple-
use project with water for irrigation, municipal and industrial
use, peak power production, and recreation.

Information Source: 41

34
