on the forested slopes of the east-west ranging Uinta Mountains. These
tributaries originate in Utah, then flow north into the Wyoming desert
mingling with flows from the Wyoming Range and swing eastward into the
reservoir. The waters coming from the Wyoming Range are rich in dissolved
minerals and occasionally contribute heavy silt loads.

South of the state line are deep scenic canyons which course generally
northward from the Uinta Mountains. Several small, chemically pure, streams
flowing directly from Uinta slopes enter the reservoir in this region.
