The bottom is typically clay, soft mud, <br />or mud and sand, or occasionally rocks, .gravel or rubble, with little <br />or no vegetation; the water may be clear or muddy, greenish-brown <br />in Green River. The species is well adapted to the swift current that <br />characterizes the Green and Colorado Rivers. <br /> <br />,,~. <br /> <br />.l t. <br />:i J <br />i <br /> <br />" <br />/.' <br /> <br /> <br />LEATHERSIDE CHUB <br />Gila copei(Jordan and Gilbert) <br />Common Names: Leatherside chub, leatherside minnow. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />t. <br />i ~- . <br /> <br />Importance <br /> <br />This species is an excellent bait minnow and has been used <br />for this purpose in Wyoming and also in the lower Colorado River, <br />from Lake Mead to Yuma (Miller, 1952).
