<br />Habitat
<br />
<br />Adults of both the roundtail (Gilarolmsta robusta) and bony-
<br />tail (Gila robusta elegans) are found in big rivers and their major
<br />tributaries; the young occur in adjacentsballower, quieter waters.
<br />The species also occurs in lakes in the upper parts of the Colorado
<br />River system in Wyoming. The bottom is typically clay, soft mud,
<br />or mud and sand, or occasionally rocks, .gravel or rubble, with little
<br />or no vegetation; the water may be clear or muddy, greenish-brown
<br />in Green River. The species is well adapted to the swift current that
<br />characterizes the Green and Colorado Rivers.

<br />Importance
<br />
<br />This species is an excellent bait minnow and has been used
<br />for this purpose in Wyoming and also in the lower Colorado River,
<br />from Lake Mead to Yuma (Miller, 1952). It is probably utilized
<br />as a forage fish by game species.
<br />

<br />Range
<br />
<br />In Utah, the species is native only to the eastern and southern
<br />parts of the Bonneville Basin in rivers draining into Great Saito Lake
<br />(Bear, Logan and Weber), into Utah Lake (Provo), and in the
