romous species to adapt to adfluvial behavior or
to actually spawn successfully within the reser-
voir is a definite advantage. Also, if large num-
bers of forage fish such as threadfin shad can be
maintained in a reservoir, predation by striped
bass on less abundant species will probably not
become a problem. Striped bass, like many
piscivores, seem to utilize those species they
encounter most frequently.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
We thank W. R. Noonan for assistance in col-
lection and analysis of striped bass stomach con-
tents. Funding for this study was provided by the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Colorado River
Fishes Project, and the U.S. Bureau of Recla-
mation. 'The Utah Cooperative Fishery Research
Unit is jointly sponsored by Utah State Univer-
sity, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and
the Fish and Wildlife Service of the U.S. Depart-
ment of the Interior.
