razorback sucker was 384 mm TL and weighed 601 g. No other fish species were observed.
This razorback sucker was a hatchery reared fish stocked in 1999 in a wetland above Brennan at
river mile 266.0 (427.9 River Kilometer; RK); at stocking it was 189 mm TL and weighed 98.2
g. The fish was captured again on 6 April 2000 by Utah Division of Wildlife Resources
(UDWR); at that time it was 366 mm TL and weighed 567 g.
Approximately 4.4 miles (7.08 km) of the Green River Canal below the first siphon was
electrofished from 12-13 July 2000 (Figure 2). Five Colorado pikeminnow were captured
between the first and second siphons (Figure 2; Table 1; Table 2). Two others were observed but
not captured. No tubercles were seen; the vent was not swollen; and milt or eggs were not
observed or expressed. The average size of these pikeminnow was 546.5 mm TL. Two of the
five pikeminnow were captured previously by the UDWR. The first pikeminnow (PIT-tag
1F2050343D) was captured in the Green River at river mile 159.9 (257.3 RK; below Joe Hutch
Canyon Rapid) on 24 July 1999; it was 495 mm TL and weighed 956 g. The second
pikeminnow (PIT-tag 51331D4E71) was captured in the White River at river mile 5.5 (8.8 RK)
on 20 May 1999; it was 499 mm TL and weighed 960 g.
Several other species were also captured in this section (Table 1). A Gila with a thick body and
narrow caudal peduncle, possibly a bonytail (Gila elegans), was caught. Common carp (
Cyprinus carpio) and channel catfish (ktalurus punctatus) were the most abundant fish. Also 35
red shiners were captured. Below the second siphon (Searson's property), no endangered fish
were captured or seen. Carp were the only fish found in this section.
In September, the raceway and the canal between the gate and first siphon were electrofished.
Three Colorado pikeminnow were observed in the raceway, but only one was captured; this fish
