ATCHABLE WILDLIFE <br />Jne of Colorado's <br />premier wildlife <br />ewing sites is located <br />long the shores of <br />lindy Gap Reservoir. <br />he watchable wildlife <br />rea project completed <br />1 1995 was a joint ven- <br />ire of the Subdistrict, <br />rand County, the Town <br />F Granby, Great <br />utdoors Colorado, the <br />.S. Forest Service, the <br />ureau of Land <br />lanagement, the <br />olorado Division of <br />lildlife, and Colorado <br />epartment of <br />'ansportation. The <br />rea consists of handi- <br />3pped-accessible <br />ildlife viewing blinds, a <br />half-mile trail, informa- <br />tion kiosks, restrooms, <br />a parking area and pic- <br />nic shelters. It provides <br />the public opportunities <br />to view more than 150 <br />different species of <br />birds and wildlife, the <br />most in one location in <br />the entire state. <br />Three islands con- <br />structed by the Sub- <br />district as part of the <br />Settlement Agreement <br />also provide a unique <br />wildlife habitat. Species <br />viewed at Windy Gap <br />and not before known <br />to exist in Grand County <br />include the river otter <br />and white pelican. <br /> <br />n <br />Goose nests were con- <br />structed as part of the <br />environmental mitigation <br />VVINDY GAP PROJECT 17 <br />the Windy Gap Watchable Wildlife Area was completed <br />in 1995
