<br />STUDY AREA <br />During March and April 1988, we concentrated our surveys in <br />the San Juan River offew Mexico from the geologic formation <br />known as the "Hogback' downstream to the U.S. Highway 160 bridge <br />at the Colorado-New Micico border, a river reach of about 68 km <br />(42 miles) (Figure 1)- On the July and October 1988 trips, we <br />focused our efforts oe.a 48 km (30 miles) reach between Shiprock <br />and the Colorado-New *xico border (Figure 1). A detailed <br />description of the stzly area can be found in our 1987 San Juan <br />River, New Mexico, report (Platania and Bestgen 1988). <br />Table 1.
