The Service presented documented and verbal testimony regarding recorded water
use on the station and made a plea for restoration of water rights to historic
use figures. Attorney for the State Engineers Office pleaded against granting
the relief, arguing basically that any plea for relief should have been made
within one calendar year followinq adjudication. Due to the excellent presen-
tation of our case by Herb Recker, sound testimony, and the nature of the
program (i.e. Endangered Species), Judge Oman granted the relief. We received
an additional allotment of 527 acft/annum, raising our total annual allotment
to 1880 acre feet.
Dexter was awarded a $365,000 Jobs Bill to subdivide four existing ponds into
13 smaller ponds. Max Rivera Construction Company from Santa Rosa, N4 was
awarded the contract to complete the work. Construction commenced in November.
We reworked Pond 10B, removing the existing back dike to enlarge the pond to
its original size. We hired six temporary emoioyees to assist with fish tagging.
Our two YCC enrollees were a great help during the summer. Theov received the
AZ-NM AFS Chapter "Award of Excellence" for his contributions to fish culture
over the past 20 years. Buddy was elected Sec.-Treas. of the AZ-NM AFS Chapter.
Lloyd Strobeck assisted with RBS harvest when we were short handed. We purchased
a new diesel tractor, Cushman scooter, autocrane, table saw and radial arm saw.
