Symbols recommended for proteins and
alleles follow Shaklee et al. (1990). Specific collection sites are presented in Appendix 1, Table 2. No
significant differences were found between Colorado River, Green River, and Yampa River allele
frequencies (Z-statistics or tests of the normal deviate and Chi-square goodness-of-fit tests, as appropriate,
independent of BIOSYS-1 using methods described in Merrell (1975). Significant deviations from Hardy-
Weinberg equilibria (**P<0.01, ***P<0.001) are indicated next to sample sites (1). The BIOSYS-1
program (Swofford and Selander 1987) was used to calculate Hardy-Weinberg and F. values.
Population
Locus
(sample size) Colorado Colorado Colorado
alleles River River River Fin
below Moab Utah Cataract Canyon above Moab Utah
ES-2
(1) (29) (07) (02) 0.032
*a 0.655 0.857 0.750
*b 0.310 0.143 0.250
*c 0.034 0.000 0.000
GPI-I
(N) (30) (07) (02) 0.013
*a 0.250 0.357 0.250
*b 0.750 0.643 0.750
GPI-2
(1) (30) (07) (02) 0.011
*a 0.017 0.000 0.000
*b 0.983 1.000 1.000
PEPS
(N) (29) (07) (02) 0.012
*a 0.983 1.000 1.000
*b 0.017 0.000 0.000
TPI-2
(N) (30) (07) (02) 0.182
*a 0.000 0.000 0.250
*b 1.000 1.000 0.750
PG"--2
(N) (30) (07)*** (02) 0.067
*a 0.033 0.143 0.000
*b 0.967 0.857 1.000
Mean Fst 0.049
