Footnotes to Table 2 (Continued)
6/ The Service recommends that 250 of each lot be PIT-tagged and retained to develop a broodstock. The Service
recommends that the "surplus" fish be used in Program research experiments or disposal following the Program's
Disposition Guidelines.
7/ The Service recommends that 250 of each lot be PIT-tagged and retained to develop a broodstock. The Service
recommends that the "surplus" fish be used in Program research experiments or disposal following the Program's
Disposition Guidelines.
8/ Progeny from these family lots were used for broodstock and experimental stocking of the Middle Green River in 1995
(Upper Basin Recovery Program 1995a).
9/ These fish wild larvae captured in light traps during 1995. They are probably progeny of three species: razorback
sucker, flannelmouth sucker, and bluehead sucker. Some will be PIT-tagged and used for broodstock development if
DNA fingerprinting demonstrates they are unrelated. The remaining fish will be PIT-tagged and stocked into the
Middle Green River when they attain an appropriate size.
10/ Four bonytail are being retained for Information and Education purposes at the Ouray Endangered Fish Facility; Ten
bonytail were transferred to Utah State University for physical conditioning experiments by Todd Crowl.
11/ The pedigrees of these fish are unknown. The Service recommends disposal following the Program's Disposition
Guidelines.
121 The pedigrees of these fish are unknown. The Service recommends disposal following the Program's Disposition
Guidelines.
13/ Some of the fish from each family lot were PIT-tagged and retained as broodstock at the Horsethief facility. The
remainder of the fish were PIT-tagged and stocked into the Gunnison River in September, 1995.
14/ These Colorado squawfish are progeny from 17 pedigreed family lots but were not marked to identify the separate
families. The Service recommends that disposition of these fish should be made following the Program's Disposition
Guidelines. They should not be stocked into the river to avoid the genetic risk of inbreeding.
15/ The numbers of 3-inch razorback suckers from the 1995 year class will be reduced to approximately 622 fish from
expected survival rates. These fish will be used for broodstock development of the Upper Colorado River stock.
The numbers remaining in each of the family lots will be determined in October, 1996.
