The Recovery Program disposition guidelines (Stempel and Wydoski 1995) will be
applied to captive-reared fish that are surplus to the primary need.
4/ This razorback sucker was captured in spawning condition on two years in the Green and Yampa rivers, hence he is
referred to as "Wandering Willie". The Service recommends that this fish be used in developing a razorback sucker
broodstock for the Middle Green River. If the family lot is produced from the mating using this fish, the Service
recommends that he be released into the wild near the confluence of the Yampa River with the Green River.
5/ These Green River razorback suckers are progeny from captive spawning in 1989, 1990, and 1991. They were not tagged
and the breeding strategies did not follow recommended Program guidance (Williamson and Wydoski 1994). Since the
known number of family lots remaining are unknown, the only safe assumption is that these fish are from one paired
mating. The Service recommends that one male and one female be used in developing the Middle Green River
broodstock. If the fish are found to be unrelated by DNA fingerprinting, these fish will be used for broodstock
development. Otherwise, the Service recommends that disposition of the remaining fish follow the Program's
Disposition Guidelines.
