The Recovery Program disposition guidelines (Stempel and Wydoski 1995) will be <br />applied to captive-reared fish that are surplus to the primary need. <br />4/ This razorback sucker was captured in spawning condition on two years in the Green and Yampa rivers, hence he is <br />referred to as "Wandering Willie". The Service recommends that this fish be used in developing a razorback sucker <br />broodstock for the Middle Green River. If the family lot is produced from the mating using this fish, the Service <br />recommends that he be released into the wild near the confluence of the Yampa River with the Green River. <br />5/ These Green River razorback suckers are progeny from captive spawning in 1989, 1990, and 1991. They were not tagged <br />and the breeding strategies did not follow recommended Program guidance (Williamson and Wydoski 1994). Since the <br />known number of family lots remaining are unknown, the only safe assumption is that these fish are from one paired <br />mating. The Service recommends that one male and one female be used in developing the Middle Green River <br />broodstock. If the fish are found to be unrelated by DNA fingerprinting, these fish will be used for broodstock <br />development. Otherwise, the Service recommends that disposition of the remaining fish follow the Program's <br />Disposition Guidelines.
