Aluminum foil was used to wrap <br />the rock surface (foil template) and was trimmed to <br />match the area where the algae were attached. The <br />surface area of the rock was estimated by comparing <br />the mass of foil template to the mass of foil with a <br />known area. The RTH samples were sent to the USGS <br /> <br />National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) in <br />Arvada, Colorado, for quality-assurance and quality- <br />control processing; then samples were shipped to the <br />Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia (ANSP) <br />in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for identification and <br />enumeration. <br /> <br />4 Algal Data from Selected Sites in the Upper Colorado River Basin, Colorado, Water Years 1996-97 <br />
