"Holing through"
is scheduled to be early in 1970, Concrete lining of the 10-foot dia-
meter tunnel will start about June 1970. It is expected that it will be
fully completed before the year's end,

Preconstruction activities are continuing for Soldier Creek Dam
and the other facilities comprising the high mountain water collection
works that will convey water into the enlarged Strawberry Reservoir,

A highlight of 1969 was approval to start Bottle Hollow Dams
and Dike and subsequent award of a $674,800 contract for their con-
struction. This reservoir is being built near the community of Fort
Duchesne, Utah, under terms of a cooperative agreement among the
Ute Indian Tribe, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Bureau of
Reclamation. Bottle Hollow Reservoir will serve to mitigate upstream
fishery losses to the Ute Tribe.

Bottle Hollow Dams and Dike are being constructed at an off-
stream site. The water supply for the reservoir will be obtained from
the nearby Indian Bench Canal. Construction will include a turnout
from the canal, an 1,800-foot unlined feeder canal with 6-foot bottom
width, precast concrete pipe chute, and a stilling basin. Bottle Hollow
Reservoir has a total capactiy of 11,103 acre-feet.

Contractor W. W. Clyde and Company initiated work at the job-
site early in March 1969, and by September 30, 1969, had accom-
plished 43 percent of the work under its contract. The turnout from
the Indian Bench Canal and the feeder canal are substantially com-
pleted. Reservoir clearing and stripping of damsite areas have been
completed, cutoff trenches excavated, foundation grouting accom-
plished, and about two-thirds of the concrete placed for the combined
SPillway and outlet works. Placing of the dam embankments is
scheduled to start early in October. Completion is required by No-
vember 12, 1970.

,II
ii
i q
ii
if
If
