This backwater had an area of 420 m2 and a maximum depth of 5.0 ft at 1,900 cfs. By late
December a large ice jam had formed immediately upstream' of the backwater. The ice jam backed-up
water forcing most of the mainchannel flow to the right side flood plain, and through the backwater formed
there. By January 7 the entire backwater had eroded away, leaving only a cut bank. This area was
determined unsuitable overwinter habitat.

Baseline 130 feet

~
N
~

Area 4,529.6548

Bathymetric map of Site 4 (RM 316.2), showing waters edge and 1 ft contour lines.

Photographs of Site 4 (RM 316.2) taken October 1994 (top) and January 1995 (bottom).
