RECITALS
The Governance Committee of the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program (Program)
submits this Request for Proposals (RFP) to solicit proposals from contractors to implement a
protocol for the purposes of collecting data on whooping crane (Grus americana) occurrence and
use in the central Platte River (Nebraska) valley during the a.tuiual spring and fall migrations.
The results of this monitoring effort will serve as a tool for the Governance Committee to assist
in determining whooping crane habitat use and provide an index of abundance in the study area.
Monitoring services will be conducted in accordance with the Program's Whooping Crane
Monitoring Protocol (Final Program Document, Adaptive Management Plan - Appendix F,
Attachment 1: Monitoring whoaping crane migrational habitat use in the central Platte River
valley). The contract awarded through this RFP will encampass spring and fall whooping
crane monitoring activities during the three-year period from January 1, 2008 through
December 31, 2010.
In responding to this RFP, the Governance Committee requests the following information:
1) Scope of work for completing this project. Prospective contractor should address the tasks
outlined herein.
2) Schedule for completing each task in the scope. The following are critical annual dates for
the Governance Committee's preferred schedule for the proj ect:
March 21-Apri129 Spring migration aerial surveys (as per Protocol)
May 31 Draft Report on spring migration provided to ED Office
and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)
July 31 Final Report on spring migration; TAC presentation
October 9-November 10 Fall migration aerial surveys (as per Protocol)
November 30 Draft Report on fall migration provided to ED Office/TAC
December 31 Final Report on fall migration; TAC presentation
