PLATTE RIVER RECOVERY IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAM <br />REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS <br />SUBJECT: Spring and Fall Whooping Crane Monitoring <br />REQUEST DATE: January 4, 2008 <br />CLOSING DATE: February l, 2008 <br />POINT OF CONTACT: Chad Smith - Executive Director's Office <br />Platte River Recovery Implementation Program <br />6512 Crooked Creek Drive <br />Lincoln, Nebraska 68516 <br />(402) 261-3185 <br />smithc@headwaterscorp.com <br />RECITALS <br />The Governance Committee of the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program (Program) <br />submits this Request for Proposals (RFP) to solicit proposals from contractors to implement a <br />protocol for the purposes of collecting data on whooping crane (Grus americana) occurrence and <br />use in the central Platte River (Nebraska) valley during the a.tuiual spring and fall migrations. <br />The results of this monitoring effort will serve as a tool for the Governance Committee to assist <br />in determining whooping crane habitat use and provide an index of abundance in the study area. <br />Monitoring services will be conducted in accordance with the Program's Whooping Crane <br />Monitoring Protocol (Final Program Document, Adaptive Management Plan - Appendix F, <br />Attachment 1: Monitoring whoaping crane migrational habitat use in the central Platte River <br />valley). The contract awarded through this RFP will encampass spring and fall whooping <br />crane monitoring activities during the three-year period from January 1, 2008 through <br />December 31, 2010. <br />In responding to this RFP, the Governance Committee requests the following information: <br />1) Scope of work for completing this project. Prospective contractor should address the tasks <br />outlined herein. <br />2) Schedule for completing each task in the scope. The following are critical annual dates for <br />the Governance Committee's preferred schedule for the proj ect: <br />March 21-Apri129 Spring migration aerial surveys (as per Protocol) <br />May 31 Draft Report on spring migration provided to ED Office <br />and Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) <br />July 31 Final Report on spring migration; TAC presentation <br />October 9-November 10 Fall migration aerial surveys (as per Protocol) <br />November 30 Draft Report on fall migration provided to ED Office/TAC <br />December 31 Final Report on fall migration; TAC presentation
