.

.

.

Existing Ecological Condition Statement

The Cache La Poudre River flows through urban settings to rural pasture and farm ground in
Weld County. There are a number of gravel pits along this stretch of the river. The Cache La
Poudre River has a healthy mix of native vegetation and habitat cover for wildlife. This will
continue to fill in and enhance the ecosystem once the tamarisk and Russian olive have been
removed. The increased native vegetation will provide a stable bank edge and more wildlife
habitat.

In the Platte Invasives Endeavor plan for the Cache La Poudre, current tamarisk infestations are
sporadic and light along the floodplain. Russian olives are more widespread and intermixed with
desirable vegetation. The plan also indicates that all work will be coordinated with the Colorado
Division of Wildlife to verify that none of the federally endangered, federally threatened, state
endangered, state threatened or state special concern species will be impacted during the
project. If there are any issues, special accommodations will be implemented based on their
needs.

7
