<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ADDllcatlon Part II. <br />For each of the evaluation elements and criteria briefly, but with specific detail, describe how the <br />proposed project meets the following topics: <br /> <br />Mandato Pro ect Elements <br />Consistency with State approved TRO control plan <br />This application is in compliance with the Platte Invasives Endeavor Plan for the South Platte <br />Watershed in that the plan prioritizes tamarisk and Russian olive control along the main South <br />Platte River. We will follow the uidelines of the Ian in our TRO removal. <br />Control of TRO In priority infested areas through !tlntegrated pest management" (IPM). <br />We will have assistance from the NRCS Area Agronomist, Ron Schierer, in developing an <br />IPM plan for our project area. We will use the PIE Plan as guidance and take advice from <br />Noe Marymor, biologist for NRCS and Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory, who has worked on <br />several TRO control ro'ects. <br />Native revegetation/restoration, either natural processes or through direct intervention <br />(I.e. reseeding or replanting). <br />We Ian to allow natural reve etation, but will monitor the area and intervene as needed. <br />Monitoring of project effectiveness for a minimum of five years. <br />Over the five monitoring years our technician, Jerry Miller, will periodically check the sites for <br />any TRO regrowth and to ensure that revegetation is occurring. Jerry will also photo journal <br />and keep a log of his observations of how the ecosystem is affected through the years. Ryan <br />Fitz erald from DOW will be visitin the sites earl to do an a uatic wildlife assessment. <br />Maintenance of restored areas for a minimum of five years. <br />Our budget includes funding each of the five monitoring years for any additional control <br />measures that will need to be taken. That funding may also be used to assist revegetation if it <br />is not occurrin naturall. <br />Ca aci of A lIeant <br />History of working cooperatively in partnership with local land owners, other <br />community organizations and local, state and federal agencies. <br />We work closely with the local NRCS to fulfill the needs of our county. We often recruit <br />members of the DOW to help us on educational projects, such as our annual daycamp. We <br />are following the lead of our county commissioners and county weed district by creating this <br />project because they initially took part in forming the PIE plan. They actively support our <br />efforts in controllin TRO. <br />Additional level of cash and In-kind match (beyond the 50% minimum) provided by the <br />applicant organization and partners. <br />We will ut in $315 cash match and $6,870 in-kind match be ond the re uired 50%. <br />Applicant organization's demonstrated history of accomplishments In regards to <br />activities similar to the proposed project <br />SCCD has not attempted a project like this before, but we have the support and guidance of <br />the Sedgwick County Weed Control District who assisted with the PIE plan and have already <br />eliminated 90% of the tamarisk ulation in our coun the have not treated our sites . <br />Level of staffing (volunteer or paid) and experti.. the applicant organization will <br />dedicate to proposed project <br />We our using our own technician, Jerry Miller, a conservation forester and Leopold Education <br />Project teacher, to do some evaluation of the sites, oversee the initial removal, and document <br />the project over the years. NRCS Area Agronomist Ron Schierer will assist us with the IPM <br />plan. Gary Price, SCCD Treasurer and Certified Commercial Applicator for herbicides, will <br />assist with the IPM plan and help oversee weed treatment. Sedgwick County Weed Control <br />District Manager Tracy Kizer will be hired by us to do all control activities, along with a second <br />person we will hire to assist him. Ryan Fitzgerald from DOW will be visiting the sites yearly to <br />do an uatic wildlife assessment. Nee Ma mor, NRCS bioi ist, will aid us in our treatment <br /> <br />4 <br />
