Gimbel
CWCB Director

Dan McAuliffe
CWCB Deputy Director

Introduction:
This memo is part of the process to obtain the Board's final selection of projects to implement the new
Tamarisk Control Cost-Sharing Grant Program as authorized by HB08-l346.

Discussion:
The attached notebook contains the 16 applications staff received by the April 27, 2009 deadline for the
2009 tamarisk and Russian olive (TRO) grant program. We have included a copy of the final Guidance
and Procedures document as well as the Application Instructions and Forms in the notebook. A table
containing a brief summary of the 16 applications is also attached hereto.

At the November 2008 Board meeting the Board determined that it would review and select the final
group of grant recipients from a slate of scored and evaluated project applications at the May 2009
meeting. The stafflevel project evaluation will be done by a five person team on May 11,2009. The
team consists of:
1. Chris Treese, Manager External Affairs, Colorado River Water Cons. Dist.
2. Kelly T. Uhing, State Weed Coordinator, Colorado Dept. of Agriculture, Cons. Services Div.
3. Greg Sundstrom, Assistant Staff Forester, Forest Management, Colorado State Forest Service.
4. Tim Carlson, Research & Policy Director, Tamarisk Coalition.
5. Chris Sturm, Stream Restoration Coordinator, CWCB
In the regular Board notebook, to be mailed on May 12, we will provide an additional memo containing
the results of the evaluation team's review.

Recommendation:
None, this mailing is only for the purpose of giving interested Board members an opportunity to review
the 16 submitted applications prior to receiving staffs recommendations on final project selection.

Water Supply Protection. Watershed Protec:tion & Flood Mitigation. Stream & Lake Protection. Water Supply Planning & Financ:e
Water Conservation & Drought Planning. Intrastate Water Management & Development
