EXPERIENCE (continued)
Geomorphic assessment and river restoration design for the West Branch Du Page River in the West
Branch Forest Preserve: Du Page County, Illinois. 2007 - present
Performed detailed geomorphic and hydrologic assessments on 1.5 miles miles of river involving robotic
total station (Trimble S6) and GPS RTK (Trimble 118) surveys of longitudinal profiles and
channel/floodplain cross sections, bedload measurements, particle size distribution analyses (bed,
bedload, bank and bar material), stream discharge, flow duration and flood frequency analysis of USGS
streamflow data. This project is part of the mitigation the City of Chicago needs to perform to mitigate
the wetlands impacted by the expansion of O'Hare Airport. Christopher B. Burke Engineering, LTD is
handling the wetland development while Blue Mountain Consultants and Black Creek Hydrology handle
the river restoration design. The design entails elevating the bed and reconnecting the floodplain while
maintaining the lotic nature of the system. The assessment and design for the restoration of the West
Branch of the Du Page River through West Branch Forest Preserve and are awaiting permit approval
from the county, state and Army Corp of Engineers. We expect permit approval sometime in 2009 with
construction to begin late in 2009.
Primary Contractor: Blue Mountain Consultants responsible for designing and conducting field surveys,
data reduction and analysis, lab work (dry sieving), and channel restoration design.
Sub Contractor: Black Creek Hydrology, LLC assisted BMC with assessment and design.
Contact:
Jedd Anderson, CPESC
Vice President
Head, Environmental Resources Department
Christopher B.
