SMWSA
is an experienced and knowledgeable entity that plans, identifies, and develops water resources
for Douglas and Arapahoe Counties in Colorado. The organization is comprised of 13 individual
water providers that work collaboratively to foster long-term reliable water supplies through
water acquisition and infrastructure development.
SMWSA stemmed from the Douglas County Water Resource Authority (DCWRA), which
started in 1992, and the South Metro Water Supply Study Board, formed in January 2000, when
other larger water providers requested to work with one regional entity. By taking a unified
approach to regional water rights and allocation, SMWSA better serves constituents through its
increased negotiating power and support on structural and non-structural projects.
A complete list of the member of SMWSA is provided in Table 1.
Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority
(ACWWA)
Castle Pines Metropolitan District (CPMD)
Castle Pines North Metropolitan District
(CPNMD)
Centennial Water & Sanitation District
(Centennial)
Cottonwood Water and Sanitation District
(Cottonwood)
East Cherry Creek Valley Water & Sanitation
District (ECCV)
Inverness Water & Sanitation District (Inverness)
Meridian Metropolitan District (Meridian)
Parker Water & Sanitation District (Parker)
Pinery Water & Wastewater District (Pinery)
Roxborough Park Metropolitan District
(Roxborough)
Stonegate Village Metropolitan District
(Stonegate)
Town of Castle Rock (Castle Rock)
As previously mentioned SMWSA is seeking funding on behalf of 4 of its members.
