In December the La Plata West Water Authority initiated construction of an intake tower within Lake
Nighthorse. The intake tower will eventually provide water to a treatment plant and distribution system to
serve homes in the La Plata River basin. Construction of the tower should to be completed by the end of
April.

Small Hydropower Loan FlIlnd

At its January 30th meeting, the Board will be reviewing a loan application ($1.4 million) from the City of
Cortez for a small hydropowt:r project. In addition the Board will be reviewing the 10 eligible requests
for matching grants of $] 5,000 each at its January 30th meeting.

Leeislation for 2009

The annual joint resolution, HJR09-] 002, was introduced on January] 4th It was approved in the House
on January 22nd. It is now awaiting a hearing before the Senate Ag Committee.

Board Appointments

Mr. Ty Wattenberg (North Platte drainage), Mr. frank Kugel (Gunnison-Uncompahgre drainage), Mr.
Greg fisher (City and County of Denver) and Mr. Steve Sims (South Plane drainage) are scheduled for a
confirmation hearing before the Senate Ag Committee on January 29th.
