The $500,000 being requested is designed to help the CWCB implement its strategy in the
following areas:
• enhance our climate observation systems with the goal of identifying long-term trends;
• scrutinize and detect bias in climate change models;
• funding partnerships to ensure new data is useful at a local planning level;
• adapt information for use in the Colorado Decision Support System;
• publish useful information;
• utilize information to meet federal drought planning requirements;
• forecasting and proj ections; and to,
• calculate specific impacts to water rights, including instream flow water rights.
Please refer to the attached list of potential projects Water Adaptation Projects that details long
term study needs for the State of Colorado. The list outlines a comprehensive strategy for
addressing water adaptation needs, over a 2-5 year period, to respond to potential climate change
impacts. Consequently, you will notice that the list exceeds the current $500,000 funding
request. CWCB staff will work to prioritize the projects based on highest need.
Attachment: Water Adaptation Potential Projects
2
