North Platte Basin Roundtable Meeting Minutes, 09.23.2008 2
Deb A: it might not be that simple, because if the agency is changed to CSFS, the
application might have to go through CSU, and then we will have administration fee
issues.
Kent C: if it comes to that then possibly the county can apply.
Barb V: I went to the meeting, and the Arkansas basin walked away with a lot of
money, and a lot of applications that came up were skewed heavily toward state fiends.
The basins wanted to keep their money for other purposes. The Arkansas walked away
with $285,000 for telemetry data collection. The CWCB is giving money to the other
basins to increase their ability to gather data. We might want to think about who could
bring an application for more gauging. The Arkansas got another 800,000 for pilot
testing for a zero-liquid discharge for water quality. Lots of money. I was amazed at the
aggressiveness of some of the proposals in terms of funding. Ducks unlimited trimmed
down their application from 1.1 to a lower amount.
Rick W: What did they cut from their application?
Barb V: Not sure, but there were some positive comments about DU getting the work
done.
Kent C: Does anybody have an idea of who might bring an application to the roundtable
for the data?
Dave M: How about the county water conservancy district?
Kent: That might be a possibility, but we are not debruced as a conservancy district, and
that might make us violate tabor.
Barb V: Could the county do it?
Kent C: Possibly
Barb V: Can someone suggest it at the next Commissioner's meeting?
IBC'C Visioning Exercise:
Eric Hecox sent an email to the roundtables, requesting feedback on the draft visioning
statement from the MCC, dated September 2, 2008.
Kent C: What is our feedback on this?
Rick W: There are some good things in here that could not get done in SWSI
Barb V: I thought it was positive that they tried to minimize energy to supply water, to
maximize efficiency both ways.
Kent read the vision statement. t
Rick W: That's a good statement, but it's not going to happen
Kent read an email in response to the visioning statement written by one of the members
of the IBCC (Gunnison), Bill Trampe.
Rick W: That is very true.
I Vision Statement
We envision a Colorado that sustainable meets municipal, industrial, agricultural, environmental, and recreational
needs by promoting cooperation among all water uses.
