Consumptive Work Group Report
There was currently nothing to report. Eric added that Nicole (CDM) wants to meet with the
non-consumptive group and wants to meet with consumptive group in the SW Basin at the
same time. They will be taking demands out to 2050. Mike Preston asked if Steve Harris
would be willing to join the Consumptive Work Group.
Non-consumptive Work Group Report
Jim Siscoe reported that this basin has a GIS with 30 layers. They still need DOW data. Jim met
with Rick Brown after Glenwood meeting regarding getting a common data platform for this
study. There has to be a common hydrologic point of view for both work groups (Consumptive
and Non-consumptive).
Eric added that what is important in the process is that we've identified the needs and work to
get a technical solution that meets one set of needs without hurting the others' needs. That's
where the process brings both groups together. We also need to consider our priorities. The
Dolores River Dialogue is a good example. Jim S. will show some maps at the next meeting.
Water Supply Reserve Account
Steve referred the members to a report that was distributed. To date, $107,700 has been
approved through this roundtable, leaving a balance of $592,300. This total does not include
the recent LPWWA, Sawpit and Bauer requests. Another $300,000 is anticipated July 1, 2008.
This will give us approximately $700,000 to work with. There are no current applications.
Jenny asked if the Sawpit request was a problem with the roundtable's goals. Mike Preston
stated his opinion of treatment and delivery of water being different than raw water projects.
It was expressed that we need to determine what our mission should be and have a clear
understanding of what we should use the money for and what we really want to focus on. Eric
added that the state defers to the roundtables on the worth of the project. They get into deep
fiscal review from a state level to make sure they can meet regulations.
Next meetings:
May 14 Cortez
July 9 Durango
Sept. 10 Cortez
Nov. 12 Durango
Jan. 14 Cortez
Rick Brown will be on the agenda re SWSI II.
Steve adjourned the meeting at 6:00 p.m.
