Nominations and Election of Chair and 2 IBCC Representatives <br />Steve thanked the members for their work over the past couple years and said he appreciated <br />the opportunity to serve as Chair. Steve announced that the Chair and the 1s' and 2nd Vice- <br />Chair positions are open for election as well as the IBCC representative positions. Secret <br />nominations and secret ballots will be used according to the bylaws. Eric Hecox acted as the <br />election judge. <br />Nominations for the Chair, First Vice-Chair and Second Vice-Chair that accepted the <br />nominations are Mike Preston, Ken Beegles and Gary Kennedy. Mike Preston received the most <br />votes and will be the new Chair. Ken Beegles is 1s' Vice-Chair and Gary Kennedy is 2nd Vice- <br />Chair. <br />Secret nominations were taken for the two IBCC representative positions. Nominees that <br />accepted the nominations are John Porter, Jenny Russell and Steve Harris. Steve pointed out <br />that a 75% supermajority is needed for these positions. Secret ballots were collected. John <br />Porter received more than 75% votes but neither of the other two candidates received 75%. A <br />second vote was taken to decide between the other two candidates with one candidate <br />receiving 60% of the vote. Steve Fearn moved that the candidate be selected by a 60% <br />majority. Ken Beegles seconded the motion and it passed. The second ballot vote resulted in <br />Steve Harris being selected as the 2nd IBCC representative. <br />Water Information Program presentation <br />Denise Rue-Pastin gave a historical summary of the Water Information Program that has <br />operated for 14 years. Initial purpose was to provide common forum for sharing info and goals. <br />SWCD is primary agency. Each participating entity supports the Program to the degree that <br />they can. Oversight is provided by a steering committee. Denise was hired as a <br />contractor/coordinator in 2006. Traditionally, services have included brochures, a quarterly <br />water newsletter, press clipping summaries, additional educational materials, water exhibits for <br />festivals and educational outreach. WIP has coordinated Children's Water Festival at FLC and <br />participated in Cortez's Festival. WIP can provide speakers to water-related events. The WIP <br />website is being upgraded. (www.waterinfo.org) other services include <br />providing/coordinating/and participating in workshops; Meet & Greet opportunities and article <br />contributions. Eric shared that water education may apply for roundtable funds. He suggested <br />that Denise work with Jenny who is IBCC educational liaison. Public outreach monies might be <br />used to educate on the roundtable process. Jim Siscoe said that the Community Summit in <br />Montezuma County has done a water 101 type course in the past and he will check on their <br />future intentions. <br />Mancos Basin Needs Assessment <br />Tim Hunter updated the roundtable with an overview of the Mancos Basin Watershed that <br />included local issues. He also gave statistics on economic impact of non-consumptive uses. <br />Raymond Keith reported that any support from this roundtable to help pass legislation is <br />needed. He also gave an update of water issues in the basin such as increasing M&I demands.
