May 5, 2008
Nicole Rowan with CDM presented draft maps showing the location of identified environmental
attributes. She had also prepared combined maps showing where attributes overlaid on one
another to show density. Nicole indicated that she could send out CD's of the maps to whoever
wanted them. Tyler Martineau stated that everyone should review the maps and provide
feedback to CDM within 30 days. Michelle Pierce said she would forward the Internet link to
the Roundtable members for the maps. The issue of public and private lands was discussed, and
Nicole indicated where her maps showed the public and private land attributes, and that the maps
were confidential for now.
The scheduled presentation on the Flow Evaluation Tool that was currently being piloted in the
Colorado and Arkansas basins to quantify non-consumptive needs was postponed until the
August 2008 meeting when more complete information would be available.
3. Meetings with Eastern Slope Basin Roundtables
The Roundtable members discussed scheduling meetings with the South Platte, Arkansas and
Metro Roundtables in the Gunnison Basin. Michelle Pierce said that the Arkansas wanted to
bring their full Roundtable to the July Gunnison Basin Roundtable meeting. Michelle also
mentioned that the July meeting was scheduled at the end of the holiday weekend, and asked the
Roundtable members if they wanted to postpone that meeting until the following week, and if
they wanted to host the Arkansas Roundtable at that meeting. It was generally agreed on that the
Arkansas would be asked to make a presentation at that meeting.
Bill Trampe, Marc Catlin, and John McClow expressed concern about the agenda for the East
Slope Roundtables visits to the Gunnison Basin. Michelle requested that the Communications
Committee stay after this meeting to discuss this matter.
John McClow made a motion to postpone the Roundtable meeting until July 14, 2008, and to
host the Arkansas Roundtable at that meeting. Hugh Sanburg seconded, and the motion carried
unanimously. Ralph Grover made a motion to have this meeting be a mandatory meeting. Ken
Spann seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
4. Letter from Eastern Slope Roundtables
Michelle Pierce said that the River District planned to redraft the letter in response to the Eastern
Slope Roundtables. The redrafted letter would simply communicate a willingness to meet with
them. In response to the River District's request for 2 or 3 members to be appointed to help with
those Eastern Slope meetings, the following three members volunteered: Bill Trampe, John
McClow, and Marc Catlin.
5. Roundtable Membership
Michelle Pierce announced the resignation of Thomas Huerkamp. Michelle had already sent a
letter thanking Tom for his service on the Roundtable.
6. Gunnison State of the River Meeting
The Gunnison State of the River Meeting was scheduled for May 12, 2008, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.,
DMEA Community Room, Montrose.
Salinity Control Program ?Uorkgroup will meet in Montrose at the Holiday Inn on May 28, 29, &
30, 2008.
4
