Alexander, Robert Mathis, <br />Mike Willett, Doug Shriver, Travis Smith, Cindy Medina, Carishma Gokhale-Welch, Ray <br />Wright, Mike Blenden, Nicole Rowan, Mike Sullivan, Ronald Peterson, Judy Lopez, Ron <br />Riggenbach, Nicole Langley, Steve Vandiver, Rio de la Vista, Peter Barkmann, Kitty <br />Broadbent, Ed Nielsen, Erin Minks, Charles Spielman, Fred Bauder, Charlotte Bobicki, <br />Don Thompson, Michelle LeBlanc, Edward Vigil, Jerry Gallegos, Bob Felmlee, Paul <br />Robertson, Ralph Curtis, Doug Davis <br />• Announcement: Chairman Mike Gibson gave an urgent appeal for men to take advantage of the free prostate <br />cancer screening program at the Monte Vista Coop on Tuesday, September 1011 Its a simple blood test. Mike <br />spoke as a suivivor of prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is 33% more likely to occur in men than breast cancer is <br />in women, and early detection is critically important in saving lives. Think about it. Tell your friends. Do it! <br />• Introductions: Welcome to all. Lewis Entz and Alan Brown both sent regrets. <br />• Establishing a Quorum: Quorum established. <br />• Approval of Minutes from August 12, 2008 Meeting: Ray Wright moved, Doug Shriver seconded. <br />Unanimous approval. <br />• Reappointment of Members: Charlie Spielman offered to seive as the industrial rep in the place of Mel Getz <br />instead of representing towns in Rio Grande County. Paul Robertson moved to approve. Travis Smith <br />seconded. Passed unanimously. Charlie to check with the City of Monte Vista for appointment of someone in <br />his place. Mike G. expressed continuing difficulty in finding a representative from Costilla County. Jerry <br />Gallegos, in attendance, apologized for not having attended in the past and said he would now attend regularly <br />and would continue as the rep from Costilla County. <br />• IBCC Education Committee: Inspired by last month's visit from the Gunnison Basin Roundtable, Judy <br />Lopez suggested we put together an educational PowerPoint presentation on "The Rio Gramme Basin. - Could <br />use the existing R.G. template on the IBCC web site data as: add info on subdistricts, material from Mel & <br />Camille Getz, Compact information from Mike Sullivan, SLV/GIS maps. Need to gather photos. Judy asks for <br />help on this! <br />Comments: Travis complimented Judy on her work on web page and getting the word out. Positive comments <br />from all about taking it on the road and potential to have significant impact. Mike G - lets support Judy on <br />this. Steve Vandiver may have info on irrigated acres.
