RGBRT - June 10, 2007 <br />Jack Gilleland and Nathan Coombs <br />Request: $50,000 Basin funds; $333,700 State funds. <br />Action: Judy Lopez moved to approve; Lawrence Gallegos seconded. <br />Discussion: Cindy complimented progress in addressing this long-standing <br />problem. Steve Vandiver: half the river goes to the Compact at this point. North <br />Branch has extremely limited capacity. This diversion HAS to be controlled or <br />you will flood the Town of Manassa. Lawrence asked if EQUIP funding sought <br />and the response was no, it had not. Judy said, "I never saw so much water <br />coming through there," and amazed at how they were trying to control this with <br />such a dilapidated system. Understood how anybody could get really angry after <br />so many years. Many commented on the urgency and need for moving on this <br />project fast. <br />Vote: Unanimous approval the request go forward to CWCB. <br />Conejos Water Conservancy - Platoro Reservoir Rehabilitation <br />Bob Robins <br />Request: $50,000 Basin funds; $200,000 State funds. <br />Action: Steve Vandiver moved to approve; Fred Bauder seconded. <br />Discussion: JB asked if bypass piping was temporary or permanent. Response <br />was that the new by-pass piping would be permanent. Question: if had to drain <br />the reservoir to do this work? Response was that draining the reservoir was not <br />necessary. Charlie again suggested investigating hydropower option. Bob <br />Robins explained previous history in which hydropower was considered but not <br />encouraged. It was agreed circumstances and the market was different now. <br />Question about pricing for valve replacement. Mike Gibson explained <br />engineering estimate of the value replacement was probably pretty close as <br />allowances made for metal price increases. <br />Vote: Unanimous approval the request go forward to CWCB. <br />Applause for all the proposals, for all the presenters, for Mike Gibson, for the Technical <br />Support Committee, and for grant writer Nicole Langley. <br />Mike G. thanked the Members for their willingness to take the extra time to consider the <br />funding requests and to stay past the planned 8:00 PM meeting finish time. He said <br />that this was what the Roundtable could offer to the Basin's water community. <br />Topics for Next Meeting - Possibly more Funding Applications.
