The Dalla Park Fire ll~itigation Project was initiated on April 22, 2008. Work was completed by
the Southwest Conservation Corp and included treatment of nine acres. Woody biomass
generated through the proj ect was transported to the primary access road immediately adj acent to
the access site. Wood was used for firewood and the remaining slash was chipped. Firewood was
donated to needy families through the Useful Public Service Program of La Plata County.

The Youth Sawyer Crew conducts thinning work as part of the Dalla Park Fire Mitigation Project funded by an
HB 1130 grant.
These are examples of the broad scope of treatments and benefits that are derived as a result of
funding provided by HB 1130. Because the initial work has been completed on these projects,
maintenance treatments will be easier to accomplish and will further enhance the cost-
effectiveness of the program.
