Water Supply Reserve Account - Grant Application Form
Form Revised May 2007
Pond
2 14.7 37.8
Pond
3 4.9 9.8
Pond
4 12.1 13.7
Pond
5 4.7 12.5
38.1 72.6
DRAKE LAND FARMS
The project is located at the South Platte River near Goodrich, CO in Morgan, County. It is
comprised of similar habitats as mentioned for other properties in this application including riparian,
warm-water sloughs. The property does exhibit a retired gravel pit used to supply the county with
pit run gavel for roads. The pit was retired in 2007 in anticipation of a conservation easement to be
held with Ducks Unlimited. We have now completed the conservation easement which was bargain-
sale purchased by DU in June 2008. The property is protected in perpetuity.
The application is seeking fiinds to assist with the construction of a large wetland recharge
project and restored wetlands on the property and adjacent property owned by Orphan Wells of
Wiggins. Drake Land Farms is a member of the CCWCD sub district, which provides water to cover
evaporative loss from the gravel pit (94acft/year). Recently the club purchased 4 shares of Jackson
Lake Reservoir and Ditch Company to provide water for part of the forthcoming augmentation plan.
This project will place a well at the river and pump the water about one mile into the sandhills
owned by CCWCD. Two existing ponds will impound recharge water while it infiltrates back into
the aquifer. Models show a 110 day return time to the river. As part of the agreement the club will
provide Jackson Lake water shares in return for use of the water credits to flood wetlands and
irrigate small food plots.
The project is obviously in its infancy, but with CWCB assistance we can have a great recharge
project in the central river that demonstrates partnerships, provides water for the SWSI, provides
water for agricultural, municipal and industrial use, and meet recreational enhancement objectives as
well.
Please summarize the proposed scope of work. Please refer to Part 2 of the Criteria and Guidance document for
detailed requirements. On the following page there is an example format for the Scope of Work. You can use
the example format or -our own format, provided that comparable infonnation is included.
19
