Water Availability and Sustainability -this information is needed to assess the viability
and effectiveness of the water project or activity. Please provide a description of each
water supply source to be utilized for, or the water body to be affected by, the water
activity. For water supply sources being utilized, describe its location, yield, extent of
development, and water right status. For water bodies being affected, describe its
location, extent of development, and the expected effect of the water activity on the
water body, in either case, the analysis should take into consideration a reasonable
range of hydrologic variation.
• The location on the river and the specific reach of the river proposed for riparian
restoration is shown on the attached segmented map (See Appendix B).
• This project does not specifically deal with, change, or affect any water rights or
their allocation. The Project is going to enhance the function of the river to stabilize
the banks and stabilize the flows, reducing the range of hazard variables and
increasing the ability of the river to transport sediments under all flow regimes:
o Improve water quality by reducing sediment load
o Increase the ability of the river to transport sediment
o Reduce changes in river characteristics such as flow patterns
o Enhance the ability to pass Rio Grande Compact flows when needed
• The water supply source is the Rio Grande. The water body to be affected by the
water activity is the Rio Grande.
