Water Supply Reserve Account -Grant Application Form Form Revised May 2007 the water project or activity. Please provide a description of each water supply source to be utilized for, or the water body to be affected by, the water activity. For water supply sources being utilized, describe its location, yield, extent of development, and water right status. For water bodies being affected, describe its location, extent of development, and the expected effect of the water activity on the water body, in either case, the analysis should take into consideration a reasonable range of hydrologic variation. Battlement Reservoir #3 and potentially Battlement Creek will be the waters impacted by the proposed water activity. Battlement Reservoir #3 is located in Garfield County in Section 7 of Township 8S Range 94W. The current, principal use of the reservoir is for irrigation. The original water right was appropriated in July 3 1, 1894 and was adjudicated in 1897. The USFS acquired these water rights in a Quick Claim Deed dated August 27, 2004 and was signed by the BWSC, J.D. Beasley, Francis Salensky, and Roy Savage. The USFS plans to manage and operate Battlement Reservoir #3 as recreational fish and wildlife habitat. 7. Please provide a brief narrative of any related or relevant previous studies. The contract entity, Grand Valley Anglers Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Federation of Fly Fishers, has also applied fora 2008 Fishing is Fun grant through the CDOW for $320,000. The USFS provided a presentation to the Fishing is Fun board on May 13, 2008. We are awaiting the decision of the board to fund this project. The Fishing is Fun grant requires a 20% match for non-federal dollars. Successful award of $80,000 basin dollars of the water supply reserve account through this proposed water activity would complement the Fishing is Fun grant application, allowing the dam reconstruction of Battlement Reservoir #3 to be finalized.
