North Platte Roundtable Meeting Minutes 05.15.08 4
Eric Hecox: we are leaving it (prioritization) up to the roundtable-some basins are
prioritizing by geography as areas where the most attributes occur.
Barbara: we will bring these products to the roundtable and then go from there.
T. Wright: a question on the draft information and maps: how does our roundtable
wrestle with draft information as compared to the other roundtables? Should the public
get the draft information? Where and how could information be negatively utilized if it is
available for everyone on a public website?
Barbara: Good point. Maybe the roundtable doesn't want to have the draft info on the
IBCC website just yet. But it was a cheaper way to get the work done than to make CD's
and copies for everyone.
Eric Hecox. the site on which to put the draft maps can be set up to only have access
available to roundtable members. The products are clearly marked as draft, and the path
to get to them is harder to find. Nothing but final products are entered on the IBCC
website.
Sue Morea: You can set up an FTP site for only roundtable members to get access.
Eric H: the only problem we encounter is if people use dial-up
Sue Morea: we can have CD copies made available at Kent's office.
It was decided to set up the FTP site, and have baclaip CD copies available at Kent's
Office.
Barbara continued the presentation with quantification discussion: How are we going to
proceed with quantification of the attributes?
We have abasin-wide model under development, and the subcommittee needs to discuss
site-specific quantification methods.
We are on the 2"~ round of the pilot project list
Eric Hecox. the contract and techiucal team will help with the quantification at a later
date.
Sue Morea: It's the roundtable's decision if they even WANT to pursue quantification.
Kent had a concern about the use of the Leopard Frog as a species of concern on the
attribute list. It is a commonly found frog in Jackson County, and so therefore should not
be included on the attribute list. Other members seemed to agree with this fact.
Barbara: Questions?
Carl Trick IL How is the application by CHNP going to change what we already know?
Barbara: it will supplement the public lands data with private property data. The goal
would be in selecting the properties that are surveyed to get the best representation of
wetlands in N. Park.
