North Platte Basin Roundtable Meeting Minutes, 04.22.2008 <br />Nonconsumptive needs assessment methodology: <br />Be careful when looking at quantification tools <br />hitegration of Consumptive, Nonconsumptive, and Supply availability needs <br />Completion of nonconsumptive needs assessment will influence meeting in-basin and <br />statewide needs <br />Moving forward: <br />Statewide update of CO's water supply status <br />Address basin consLUnptive and non-consumptive needs <br />Identify Interbasin opportunities when they exist <br />TNacking Weather Conditions and Evapot~anspiNation in the Noah Platte Basin, <br />Nolan Doesken: <br />Nolan gave a brief overview of North Park climate: <br />Park Range is wettest mountain region in CO <br />North Park is one area of the state where sunuller precipitation does not increase with <br />elevation <br />Not much data exists for North Park <br />Introduction to CoAgMet pro.. -Colorado Agricultural Meteorological Network, <br />Measures temp and humidity, wind speed and direction, solar radiation, precipitation, and <br />soil temperatures. <br />Provides the inputs for the computation of evapotranspiration, which is important for <br />consumptive use data. <br />There are 60 active stations, but only one station over 6500 feet in the CoAgMet <br />Network; at Wolford Mtn. <br />Most of the stations are on the eastern slope <br />What's next? <br />Enhance network capabilities? CoAgMet in N. Colorado? <br />Nolan passed around examples of simple weather data instruments: rain gauges and <br />atmometers. Atmometers are ET gauges, with a "mock" plant membrane, used to <br />moiutor consumptive use (an alternative to the more expensive CoAgMet station). <br />On the web: www.coagment.com <br />Nolan ended his presentation and opened the floor for questions. <br />Kent Crowder: how much does a CoAgMet station cost? <br />Nolan: around $8000. <br />Kent: Who maintains them? <br />Nolan: CSU with volunteers, it would be about $2000 per year, per basin to cover <br />maintenance <br />Kent: how many stations would you need in North Park to get good data? <br />
