Joe Frank: Will you be developing existing Ag rights and will each of these have an aug
component?
Kernohan: Yes. yes. Free river is so very limited; almost none. Emphasizes local
partnerships for ~yater acquisition.
Bn~ce Gerk: Proposal is to drill yells in the gravel aquifer: this has been a ver<-sensitive
area in past; impact. for instance, of gas wells on river quite significant; so the amount of
water you are talking about is significant; therefore, a diminishing effect on wells in the
same area. Getting close to being on verge of using up this water.
Kernohan: Agrees.
Charney: These seem to be stand alone projects: thus, could you prioritize these projects.
Kernohan: I think we should support this all together: this means all the goals of the
Roundtable.
Harold Evans: This could go to the Board and the CCWCB may approve only parts of it.
Hecoi: Up to this point, all of the state-wide grants have been evaluated on merit.
September may be the fast time that there are more applications than there is funds; in
that case. we will have take projects per ranking or fund only some in part. This has not
come before the board vet.
Wilkinson: Board ~~-i11 need to also split the $10 million which is currently ili front of the
Board. Also, there is another issue that there are a number of Roundtables that want $2
million put in each basin fund, up from the current $1 million per basin fund.
Harold Evans: Moves that we recommend to the CWBC approval of the application
for both basin fund and recommendation for Statewide fund.
Les Williams: Seconds
Motion carries unanimously.
VI. Potential WSRA applications for fixture meetings
Ralf Topper: Lost Creek Ground Water Management District to fund a study of
aquifer recharge and storage potential as a follow up to Senate Bill 193
recommendations; total costs: $160.000: applicant will most likely ask to split that
bete-een Metro and South Platte. September meeting at earliest.
V. Update on previously approved applications
a. Chatfield Reallocation
Frank Eckhardt: Will return to DC in September.
b. Clear Creek Water Bank /High Altitude Storage
Eiecutive summai~- in September.
c. Ovid Reservoir Feasibility Study
Signed contract ~~th State; moving forward ~yith Applegate and
should commence first of year.
d. Lower South Platte Wetland Initiative
All agreements signed; surveying commenced; easements
beginning, complete by end of fall.
e. Stage Discharge Data Loggers and Telemetry
Funding in hand; implementation ~yill commence in the fall.
13
